    that is a pretty touching story. the commentator who mentioned the abuse of religion by secular dictators hit the nail on the head. i wonder if the ironic parallels to the abuse of christianity centuries ago to this current state of affairs in the muslim world is lost on the more moderate. the really could learn from european history what happens when it is taken too far (then again so could we sometimes…).

    the other thought I had is people should stop saying “paris of the middle east” cause this is one case in which it is not even close…
