Simon Says

Posted by Matt in GLBTQ, Blog Stuff, Guest Piece, Gay on May 10th, 2007

Our friend Simon in Bahrain recently wrote an entry called “a closet of my own” that I enjoyed:

Almost all homosexual beings have a dark closet where they had once hid themselves from the world, away from people and away from their true nature. I myself had hid behind such closet, well mine has the strobe lights, Madonna Music and Mirrors inside and a plush velvet chair for the long wait before I came out ehehhehee.

simon2.jpgMost homosexual boys and homosexual girls realize that they are different from the rest around the time of 8 years old and above when the level of understanding of kids are developing, and from there, the understanding comes and eventually its either they stay in the closet or come out of it without fear and a heavy heart and just embrace the moment of freedom from the shackles of the unknown and just be wrapped up in love and self worth. Its breaking every gative aspect that the world had created to shame, destroy or belittle people who are homosexuals.

Our Friend in Bahrain

Posted by Matt in Blog Stuff, Guest Piece on April 26th, 2007

simon.jpgToday we’re introducing Simon, a new Mideast Piece partner living in Bahrain originally from the Philipines. According to Simon, the show TV show “Ally McBeal” changed his life and set him on the road to post-closet life (am I the only one who stayed in the closet because of that show?). True to Ally form, Simon describes himself as “poetic, cynical, paranoid, psychotic, a dreamer, depressed, and a wishful thinker.”

From time to time we will run his content about life (including gay life) in Bahrain. For starters, I liked his friend’s insight on those first few minutes after waking up, published in an entry called “Reboot:”

Ever wonder why when you wake up in the morning you just can’t seem to talk… That you’re so silent for more than 10 minutes…. I have this arab acquaintance that gave a very stupid explanation.

” habibi (my friend) , the morning when you wake up then you no talk at all, thats your brain rebooting, just like computer la? (Yes?)”

Kindda makes sense but still stupid, its like reset but on a much complicated system, but come to think of it, wouldn’t it be great when you could just reboot when you’re having a breakdown, you know, delete some bad memories here and there, then defrag for faster performance.

hmmm

Man I Envy Him

NV.jpgOur Dubai-based friend Envy has been doing quite a bit of world travel lately, and we’re so jealous. Here’s a window onto his experience at Pride in Sydney Australia:

My stay in Sydney was welcomed by the “mardi gras” festivities…a colorful celebration all along one of the main streets of Sydney…representing the gay & lesbian community in all major companies, banks and associations…each by a float taking a theme or a color…Leather men, pink men, Butchy women, nurses, policemen, the farm, etc…that night everyone was gay…

Posted by Matt in Travel, Too Cute, Too Sexy, Blog Stuff, Guest Piece on March 28th, 2007

body.jpgWe are pleased to present our latest Mideast Piece partner, “ENVY,” (aka, “nv”) a gay blogger based in the Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

ENVY (these are photos of him) is 27, works in advertising and his blog is a combo deal of raunchy stories and sweet thinking, like the entry we feature below. From time to time we will update you on ENVY through his blog. He is very into travel, working out and hot Arab men, so there should be plenty to share. ; )

We should note we first met ENVY when he posted a comment on Mideast Piece, proof that our blog is engaging gay guys throughout the region, even dudes based in countries officially at war with each other! (If only the UN could work this well…)

When everything goes well…

When everything goes as expected…The sky gets sunny even on the darkest days…when everything goes well…you smile back at the ones u’ve always hated…when everything oes well…you just say thank you…when everything goes well…You share your happiness with everyone around you…When everything goes well…even the slightest breath doesnt make you frown anymore…when everything goes well…You just wish to know everyone is okay…when everything goes well…u just wish all the world is safe…when everything goes well…you just listeb to a calm song…when everything goes well…you just work as hard as you can…when everything goes well…Everything goes well…
